Both are moddable and have an active and great modding community. In M&BW you can manipulate a lot of things in the world and basically create it like you want it to be (within the game limits ofcourse). But I'd say game mechanic-wise M&BW wins here. Looking at the graphics department Skyrim wins over M&BW. You cannot impact the world in ways you can in M&BW. I dont want to use this word but its the best I can think of right now and that is that Skyrim is a bit more. Its like comparing apples with oranges, they're both fruit true but no way near compareable. They are played totally differently in the sense that even the genres arent the same. As somone who can enjoy both games and not being a fanboy over any of the two I can tell you this.īasically dont compare the two games because they are literally not compareable. I know you should never judge a game by its looks but Skyrim looks soo polished and impressive compared to Warband and I wondered whether I had made the right decision in buying it. I have this AND Skyrim and I have heard soo much about the later. Originally posted by Christmas In Israel:is this a troll post? Keep in mind though, that Warband has a tougher initial learning curve. If you want stealth, magic, dragons and classic adventure, Skyrim is great.

Warband offers much better combat though, so if you want to play a game about battle, glory, intrigue and conquest, Warband has Skyrim beat by a country mile. I have, enjoy, and play both Skyrim and Warband though. Both games have strong modding communities.

There is no pre-set story or path to follow, and almost no scripted sequences.

Warband is a purer sandbox and has more emergent possibility. The replayability of Skyrim is very heavily reliant on using mods, imo. A dozen people all fighting at once is a massive/epic battle in Skyrim, in Warband it is a tiny skirmish.īascially Skyrim is a carnival ride, once you've gone around on the tilt-a-whirl there isn't much to find by going back. It also doesn't have battles on the scale of Warband. no one cares if you are the leader of a guild of assassins in Skyrim. It also has zero complexity in faction politics, i.e. Skyrim has a much simpler combat system than Warband.
